Eastward Expansion for Rob. Leunis & Chapman Group

Hannover, Germany – November 15, 2004 - The Rob. Leunis & Chapman Group (Berlin and Hannover) is tracking its customers to their new markets. The COPACO member is acquiring a controlling stake in the Polish packaging printers BSC Drukarnia Opakowan S.A. (Poznan). Managing Director Hans-Christian Bestehorn described this move as ”our most important strategic investment in recent years”.

The Polish company will be integrated into the corporate identity of the Rob. Leunis & Chapman Group (rlc). Under rlc management, BSC Drukarnia will be restructured to form the premium packaging location for the group in Eastern Europe. This is part of rlc’s successful business sector strategy, which in terms of growth is concentrating on the areas of premium, general, pharmaceuticals and contract packaging. With Poznan now being added to plants in Hannover and Berlin, this forms an East–West axis interesting for many customers. The eastward expansion will enable rlc to improve its international position in Europe. Thanks to the Copaco network and the Global Packaging Alliance (GPA), rlc already has an international presence at strategic locations.

BSC Drukarnia is one of the leading folding-box printers in the Polish marketplace. The sales target for the current year is 9 million euros. Currently operating 6- and 8-colour offset printing presses plus two hot-foil stamping machines, the output of BSC includes many international brands. The BSC customer portfolio will form an ideal complement to that of the Rob. Leunis & Chapman Group.
